Compassion
If someone shows kindness, caring, and a willingness to help others, they're showing compassion.
Compassion in Islam
‘ Compassion’ is the most frequently occurring word in the Qur’an. Each of its 114 chapters, with the exception of the 9th, begins with the invocation ‘In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful…’ When Allah describes believers in the Qur'an, he describes, "those who give in times of both ease and hardship, those who control their rage and pardon other people - Allah loves the good-doers" (Surah Al’Imran, 134)
"And Indeed, Allah is with those who are of service to others." (Al Quran 29:70)

Compassion to animals
In Islam, the Quran strongly enjoins Muslims to treat animals with compassion and not to abuse them. Over two hundred verses in the Quran deal with animals and six suras (chapters) of the Quran are named after animals. It is forbidden to beat animals unnecessarily, to brand them on the face, or to allow them to fight each other for human entertainment."They must not be mutilated while they are alive."
Muhammad is also reported (by Ibn Omar and Abdallah bin Al-As) to have said: "There is no man who kills [even] a sparrow or anything smaller, without its deserving it, but God will question him about it [on the judgment day]" and "Whoever is kind to the creatures of God is kind to himself." |
